About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Adjust gluing machinery to fit the particular style of carton being processed
  • Oversee production of flat carton orders
  • Maintain machinery at optimum speed
  • Detect malfunctions and make appropriate adjustments quickly
  • Ensure gluer crew members work efficiently and safely
  • Train feeder/catcher trainees as needed
  • Perform Feeder or Inspector duties during breaks, approximately 2 hours per day
  • Perform gluer machinery maintenance, including greasing, oiling, blowing off machinery, glue pot maintenance, bearing and belt replacement, and parts cleaning
  • Maintain written and electronic SAP records of quality and production
  • Use Ignition software and perform hourly statistical measurements, including carton alignment, edge caliper, opening force, and glue length
  • Make labels according to customer specifications
  • Teach and help fellow operators troubleshoot problems
  • Operate and troubleshoot Leary, Mactron, Alpina, and Pafra glue systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1-2 years of machine operator experience required
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Entry-level computer skills
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot Leary, Mactron, Alpina, and Pafra glue systems
  • Feeder/Inspector experience preferred
  • Mechanical experience helpful, including automotive or small engine repair
  • Experience with finishing machines, Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, and related tools for make-ready
  • Experience with SAP, RF Gen, and Ignition systems
  • Ability to work alternate schedules and overtime, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends
  • Punctuality
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to perform awkward and/or repetitive movements
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 20 lbs. and occasionally team-lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Visual acuity and ability to read computer screens or electronic devices
  • Ability to use various hand and electrical tools and equipment
  • Ability to work in heat, humidity, and production noise while wearing hearing protection
  • Tobacco-free campus; no tobacco usage of any kind allowed on the property
