About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work within GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
- Ensure production and distribution meet food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
- Maintain 5S in the assigned work area and keep equipment clean and orderly
- Complete product packaging tasks within the assigned work area
- Load blanks on paper cup finishers
- Start and stop cup finishers and monitor machine operation
- Check mineral oil pot fluids and maintain machine cleanliness
- Move, place, and thread bottom stock while minimizing waste
- Identify machinery problems and stop operation when necessary
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and machine cleaning
- Remove paper jams and perform minor adjustments
- Segregate spoilage and recyclable materials into appropriate containers
- Empty spoilage boxes continuously during the shift
- Ensure equipment meets safety standards and is routinely checked
- Record and maintain production data
- Complete the machine operator finishing rounds checklist
- Manage workload to meet production, shutdown, and startup requirements
- Communicate issues to outgoing and incoming shifts
- Meet required key performance metrics
- Fulfill overtime requirements and other assigned duties as business needs change
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–2 years of manufacturing experience
- Minimum 1 year of machine operation experience within a manufacturing environment (highly preferred)
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain a positive team environment
- Organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to perform essential physical functions, with or without accommodation: standing or walking up to 12 hours, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying up to 30 pounds, lowering up to 30 pounds from a height of 4 feet, pushing up to 250 pounds using carts or other tools, visual acuity and depth perception, and working in varying temperatures and humidity levels
