About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer quality standards for folding carton products and related raw materials during sheeting, printing, cutting, folding, gluing, and packaging processes
  • Inspect department samples for quality issues according to customer and GPI specifications
  • Collect QC samples and compare printed sheets to signed customer proofs and/or measure color using software
  • Pull samples for and maintain the Quality Sample Room
  • Review daily plant schedules and customer out-turn requests; review and print production orders and update the printing production spreadsheet
  • Provide color books, marketing samples, and complete special requests
  • Manage quality inspections and the Quality Hold/Red Line Area, including timely disposition of off-quality loads
  • Ensure departments follow red line and tagging procedures
  • Perform quality inspections and audits, verify correct material, confirm in-line inspection equipment operation, audit SPC compliance, and inspect finished-product quality
  • Create quality limits for rework dispositions
  • Perform customer and company quality testing, including COF, Score Bend, and Perforation Puncture testing
  • Enter and collect data using the plant’s SPC software
  • Request Certificates of Analysis for customers as needed
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, allergen, and SQF procedures
  • Report unsafe conditions and customer complaints; participate in SQF root-cause and corrective actions
  • Ensure printing lead or supervisor sign-off on press sheets and verify sheet quality
  • Ship customer samples and plant shipping requests via FedEx
  • Provide plant leadership with a daily End of Shift Report
  • Perform other duties assigned by a QC Lead or plant CI Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOP’s, Customer Specifications and quality testing results
  • Ability to write instructions and disposition documentation
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Good visual acuity required
  • Regularly stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Frequently lift or carry 10 to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or carry 36 to 50 pounds; weights above this require team lifting
  • Work near moving mechanical parts and exposure to dust, heat, cold, vibration, and potential work hazards
  • Personal Protective Equipment is required at all times
