About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage planning, directing, and monitoring of production activities to meet specifications, schedules, production targets, and quality standards
- Align plant operations and production with the overall order fulfillment process and GPI objectives
- Plan, prioritize, and manage production line maintenance and downtime
- Supervise and facilitate day-to-day shift activities
- Train, develop, and manage team members, including performance management and recognition
- Oversee scheduling, material handling, maintenance, and resolution of production problems
- Maintain a safe work environment and stop processes that fail safety requirements
- Supervise entry-level and semi-skilled hourly union employees
- Ensure product quality, production efficiency, and productivity meet established standards
- Troubleshoot technical and operational problems and maintain technical proficiency with department machinery
- Support LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement programs
- Understand customer requirements and deliver results meeting or exceeding expectations
- Review and submit training documentation to the department manager
- Ensure completion and approval of timecards before payroll submission
- Assist with interviewing as requested
- Follow plant, hygiene, allergen, and Safe Quality Foods procedures
- Report unsafe food conditions and customer complaints
- Participate in SQF root-cause and corrective actions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or related work experience required in lieu of degree
- 3-5 years of manufacturing experience required
- Experience in a front-line leadership position required
- Union experience preferred but not required
- Leadership ability
- Technical and problem-solving skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office applications
- SAP knowledge preferred but not required
- Ability to work third shift, Sunday through Thursday, starting at 11 pm
- Ability to work requested off hours and weekends as needed
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
