About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist the Pressman in operating and maintaining the printing press efficiently, safely and accurately
- Read and interpret job jacket information on upcoming jobs on the production schedule
- Locate sheeted board and compare skid labels with job jackets to ensure correct material
- Operate pallet jack to move skids from the raw material warehouse to the press room
- Load skids of sheeted board onto the press conveyor and maintain the conveyor during production runs
- Respond to Pressman requests during press make-ready and monitor press feed during press runs
- Fill press chemicals, load and put away inks, and refill process inks on the press shelf
- Properly dispose of press waste, used rags, gloves, and AQ/Fountain solution flush water
- Label new waste drums appropriately
- Clean ink knives, ink fountains, water buckets, coater spills, washer blades, and the press area
- Empty garbage bins, change rag bags, and maintain a supply of clean rags
- Assist the Pressman with press maintenance
- Perform other duties required to achieve company goals and objectives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to read and interpret job jacket information on upcoming jobs on production schedule
- Ability to operate hand jack and electric pallet jack
- Ability to operate forklift truck
- Ability to operate aerator
- Understanding of Job Jacket information
- Ability to complete necessary paperwork
- Mechanical aptitude necessary to be successful in the position
- Must follow all company safety requirements
- Must comply with all company rules and regulations
