About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate and maintain unwind/rewind of press
- Comply with company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures
- Complete operator documentation, including production reports, specification verification, quality requirements, machine logbooks and checklists
- Safely operate a forklift
- Complete quality checks on rolls before mounting on press
- Set up and maintain auto splicing unit
- Scan production order into RFGN
- Strip cores
- Communicate machine and department issues to department manager and supervisors and present data-based solutions
- Remove empty cores and prepare them for shipment and the Press Rewind
- Perform changeovers and set up roll stand for different roll widths
- Monitor the 5S system and maintain the working environment
- Help minimize WIP materials by stacking WIP materials as needed
- Help keep Press Unwinds running at optimum speeds, including stacking off product as needed
- Assist crew members with make-ready activities, including changing plates, doctor blades and ink
- Complete preventative and routine maintenance on splicer unit
- Assist Flexo crew members as needed
- Follow Safe Quality Food procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions
- Participate in SQF root cause and corrective actions as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Manufacturing experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in order to establish a strong working relationship with all team members
- Continuous walking, twisting, bending, stooping and lifting of up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a dusty, noisy, hot and humid environment
- Ability to work any shift and work overtime with short notice
- Ability to visually identify quality issues
- Ability to think "outside the box" and collect and utilize data in decision making
- Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate, read, and understand work-related instructions and safety procedures and requirements
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of GPI Forklift Certification
