About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, direct, and monitor production to meet specifications, schedules, volume, cost, wastage, and quality targets
  • Liaise with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply & Logistics, Sales, and other functions to develop production schedules and allocate labor and capital resources
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage production line maintenance and downtime to minimize disruptions
  • Direct, leverage, and guide the work of others and mobilize resources
  • Manage experienced professionals and/or supervisors who exercise latitude and independence
  • Head one or more sections or a small department
  • Adapt departmental plans and priorities to meet short-term challenges
  • Monitor and achieve operational and/or financial results
  • Manage people-related actions including hiring, termination, rewards, training, and development
  • Develop and administer schedules, performance requirements, and potentially budgets
  • Advise subordinates to meet schedules and resolve technical problems
  • Interpret and administer policies, processes, and procedures affecting sections and subordinate work units
  • Interact with internal personnel and outside representatives regarding operational and scheduling issues
  • Participate in and present at internal and external meetings
  • Follow plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergen procedures for Safe Quality Foods
  • Report potentially unsafe food or SQF conditions and customer complaints
  • Participate in SQF root cause and corrective actions as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Education or equivalent + 4 yrs related experience
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Understanding of production operations, scheduling, quality standards, and resource allocation
  • Knowledge of Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, hygiene, allergens, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Ability to manage experienced professionals and/or supervisors
  • People-management capabilities, including hiring, terminating, rewarding, training, and developing employees
  • Business acumen, curiosity, interpersonal skills, influence skills, self-starter attitude, negotiation skills, organization skills, and results orientation
