About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global procurement strategy aligned with strategic, financial, and operational priorities
  • Build, integrate, and lead a high-performing procurement organization
  • Advise the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on spend management, procurement, supply markets, supply continuity, inflation management, and enterprise risk
  • Develop sourcing strategies across direct materials, indirect goods and services, capital equipment, manufacturing services, logistics and transportation, technology, and professional services
  • Deliver value through cost optimization, total cost of ownership improvements, supplier innovation, demand management, and productivity initiatives
  • Lead strategic negotiations with global suppliers
  • Design the procurement organization, talent strategy, governance model, and operating processes
  • Recruit, develop, and retain procurement professionals and future leaders
  • Establish supplier segmentation, governance, performance management, business reviews, and innovation partnerships
  • Develop supply chain resiliency, business continuity, contingency planning, and dual sourcing strategies
  • Own procurement savings targets and value creation objectives
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, inflation management, payment strategies, and inventory collaboration
  • Develop and execute the procurement technology roadmap, including analytics, automation, AI-enabled sourcing, contract lifecycle management, spend analytics, and supplier management technologies
  • Integrate sustainability, responsible sourcing, circular economy initiatives, and ESG goals into procurement
  • Establish procurement policies, delegation of authority, purchasing standards, governance, and internal controls
  • Present procurement strategies, savings opportunities, market intelligence, and supply chain risks to the ELT and Board of Directors
  • Lead the North American procurement organization while establishing an integrated global procurement function
  • Integrate procurement, sourcing, logistics procurement, and purchasing into a unified global operating model

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Fifteen or more years of progressive procurement and supply chain leadership experience within a complex global organization
  • Manufacturing or production environment experience beneficial but not required
  • Executive leadership experience in a large multinational company
  • Experience in packaging, paper, consumer products, industrial manufacturing, chemicals, or related industries preferred
  • Proven experience managing large global spend portfolios and strategic supplier relationships
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated ability to deliver significant enterprise value creation
  • Experience leading digital procurement transformation initiatives
  • Exceptional executive communication, influence, and change leadership skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation
