About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the credit specialist for Relationship Managers to drive loan growth across the bank's loan products
- Recommend appropriate credit structures while maintaining the bank's credit risk profile
- Review and analyze prospective client performance and debt needs
- Coordinate with the credit team to assess the credit strength of new debt opportunities
- Build relationships with prospective borrowers, Relationship Managers, existing clients, and internal and external constituents
- Monitor existing borrower performance and identify deviations from agreed-upon covenants
- Proactively raise credit concerns to Relationship Managers to mitigate credit risk
- Conduct financial and collateral analysis for new and existing borrowers
- Perform historical trend analysis and financial forecasting
- Test financial covenants and other risk assessments under Loan & Security Agreements
- Use bank loan systems to enter financial information, prepare analyses, and produce management reports and summaries
- Communicate with clients, Relationship Managers, and bank leadership to resolve loan issues and questions
- Assist Relationship Managers with covenant reporting information and payment collection
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
- At least 4 years of relevant banking experience required
- Experience analyzing Fund and Sponsor Banking deals
- Experience underwriting C&I credits is ideal
- Clear communication across all organizational levels and with external contacts
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical skills and resourcefulness for in-depth industry and market analyses
- Ability to analyze profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
- Ability to work independently and solve problems
- Expert knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Comfortable working with AI-based underwriting and analysis software
