About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the target architecture for Greenstep's internal platform and build a large part of it
Lead internal developers technically through architecture reviews, pairing, and code review
Consolidate numerous repositories, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and low-code flows into centralized, versioned APIs
Inventory the existing technology estate and decide what to consolidate, rewrite, or delete
Design incremental migrations with Functions and Kubernetes running side by side
Move HR, payroll, finance, and client onboarding logic out of low-code systems into testable, versioned, reusable services
Build platform capabilities including service templates, CI/CD, GitOps, infrastructure as code, secrets handling, API gateway, tracing, and metrics
Design workflows, review gates, and guardrails for safe AI-generated code
Partner with the App Factory staff engineer so internal applications consume APIs instead of source systems directly
Collaborate with internal developers, the BI Book product team, data and analytics specialists, and HR, payroll, and finance business owners

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years in software and cloud engineering, including several years leading platform or API consolidation at scale
Deep Python backend experience
Production Kubernetes experience, including Helm, GitOps, ingress, secrets, resource limits, and upgrades
Experience with event-driven workloads on Kubernetes, specifically KEDA or equivalent
Azure fluency: networking, security, Entra ID, Workload Identity, Key Vault, API Management, Functions, and Logic Apps
Terraform experience, including state management, modules, drift, and infrastructure review processes
Knowledge of least privilege, managed identity, auditability, data residency, ISO 27001, and GDPR
Deliberate, heavy use of AI coding agents and clear opinions about their limitations
Technical leadership without a management title
English working language
Finnish is helpful but not required
Must live close to the Espoo location and hold a full-time work permit; Greenstep does not sponsor work visas
Reading Go well enough to debug tooling is extra but not mandatory
