About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Sort recyclables and trash to minimize contamination and maintain high recyclable rates
Provide sorting support to one or more facilities
Extract at least 48 items per minute to maximize recycling potential
Follow company and OSHA safety procedures
Work near others on either side of the conveyor belt
Stand in front of conveyor belts for extended periods while collecting material
Prevent material from entering the wrong commodity container
Work at designated workstations, including those reached by stairs
Wear required personal protective equipment

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experienced, successful, and engaged Sorter
Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures
Extract at least 48 items per minute
Follow directions, daily procedures, and protocols
Distinguish between commodities to separate material properly
Reliable transportation
Punctuality and reliability
Ability to work as part of a team and work well with others
Proficiency in English and/or Spanish
Handle material weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand and collect material for extended periods using both hands
Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, and grasp material constantly
Ability to go up and down stairs
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with loud noises, heat, cold, sharp objects, and odors
Willingness to work varying shifts, 4–12 hour workdays, and required overtime
E-Verify participation/work authorization process
