About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Sort recyclable and waste materials to minimize contamination and maintain high recyclable rates
- Provide support to one or more GreenWaste facilities
- Follow company and OSHA safety procedures
- Extract at least 48 items per minute to maximize recycling potential
- Work from either side of conveyor belts while sorting material
- Handle material to prevent sorting-line pileups and incorrect commodity placement
- Work in a fast-paced environment exposed to loud noises, heat, cold, sharp objects, and odors
- Perform limited job-related travel as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced, successful, and engaged Sorter
- Ability to follow company and OSHA safety procedures
- Ability to extract at least 48 items per minute
- Ability to follow directions, daily procedures, and protocols
- Ability to work near others while sorting material from either side of a conveyor belt
- Ability to stand and collect material for extended periods in front of a conveyor belt
- Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
- Ability to distinguish between commodities to separate material properly
- Reliable transportation
- Punctuality and reliability
- Ability to work as a team and work well with others
- Proficiency in English and/or Spanish
- Ability to handle material weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform constant pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and grasping
- Ability to go up and down stairs
- Must use a hard hat, safety glasses, work boots, safety vests, and gloves at all times
- Must be willing to work varying shifts, 4–12 hour workdays, and required overtime
