About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors and ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Inform donors about potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health
  • Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Evaluate illness and medication histories to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist with employee training
  • Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment according to state requirements as an Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Ability to stand and sit for 2 to 4 hours per day each
  • Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand, finger, wrist, and foot movement; ability to make precise coordinated movements
  • Ability to squat, crouch, bend, and twist at the waist
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Correctable near and far vision and color perception/discrimination
  • Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
  • Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
  • Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
  • Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
  • Personal protective equipment required, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
