About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Make donors aware of potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as an Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand and finger movements and precise coordinated movements
- Ability to squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels occasionally
- Light lifting of 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Hearing acuity essential
- Correctable near and far vision requirements and color perception/discrimination
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to communicate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and temperatures below 32 degrees F
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment
