About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform physical examinations and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Make donors aware of potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocation Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
- Current CPR certification required
- Work is performed both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Position requires bending and twisting of neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
- Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Ability to lift 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Hearing acuity essential
- Correctable near and far vision requirements
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written information
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to work with exposure to biological fluids and potentially infectious organisms
- Ability to work with electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to work in extreme cold below 32 degrees F while performing functions in plasma freezers
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear
