  • Assess donor suitability for plasmapheresis before venipuncture
  • Respond to and handle donor reactions according to guidelines
  • Monitor donors and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines
  • Troubleshoot autopheresis displays and document exceptions
  • Calibrate and maintain autopheresis machines and associated equipment
  • Dispose of contaminated disposable equipment and clean equipment and work areas between donors
  • Maintain accurate production records and donor confidentiality
  • Collect and process donor samples; record product and sample weights
  • Label samples, freeze units, and manage units according to SOP
  • Pack units and samples for final shipment to the testing laboratory
  • Monitor stored product and equipment working conditions
  • Conduct pre-donation medical screening
  • Determine hematocrit and protein using finger sticks, hematastat, and refractometer
  • Provide feedback to ineligible donor candidates
  • Complete and verify donor screening information
  • Communicate donor medical information to medical staff
  • Establish and maintain organized donor files
  • Greet donors, answer phones, and assist center management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified as a Phlebotomist, Donor Processor, and Plasma Processor
  • Typically requires 4 years of related experience performing phlebotomy, donor processing, and plasma processing duties
  • Demonstrated proficiency in handling difficult situations
  • Familiarity and compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal company procedures
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to listen to and understand spoken information
  • Ability to perform complex tasks under variable and changing conditions
  • Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
  • Ability to perform required physical duties, including standing or sitting for an entire shift, bending, twisting, frequent hand and foot movement, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Correctable near and far vision requirements and color perception/discrimination
  • Exposure tolerance for biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment
