About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Inform donors about potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate illness and medication histories to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist with employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and precise coordinated finger, hand, and wrist movements
- Ability to squat, crouch, sit on heels, walk, bend, and twist at the waist as required
- Ability to lift 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Hearing acuity essential
- Color perception/discrimination and correctable near and far vision requirements
- Ability to communicate, listen to, and understand spoken information
- Ability to work independently under oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to work around biological fluids and potentially infectious organisms
- Ability to work with electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to work in temperatures below 32°F in plasma freezers
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
