About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Promote customer satisfaction through appropriate interaction and responsiveness to donor needs
- Build rapport with donors to support long-term donation
- Select suitable plasmapheresis donors by performing physical examinations and taking medical histories
- Follow FDA-approved SOPs, current state and federal guidelines, OSHA, CLIA, CGMP, internal procedures, and professional education and experience
- Inform donors about potential hazards
- Administer donor consent forms
- Educate donors on trends identified through general health assessments
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate illness and medication histories to ensure continued donor suitability
- Ensure donor medical information is complete and accurate before donation
- Review donor screening tests to confirm continued donation eligibility
- Assist with employee training and coaching regarding medical SOPs
- Assist with the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
- Maintain necessary supplies
- Sanitize and clean equipment and work areas between donors
- Maintain donor and staff confidentiality
- Report unsafe situations or conditions to Center Management
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment according to state requirements as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (or equivalent), Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant
- Current CPR certification required
- 6 months of related experience providing medical care and assessing patients
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32°F
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, crouch, kneel, and perform frequent hand and foot movements
- Ability to lift 15 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds maximum
- Hearing acuity essential
- Color perception/discrimination and correctable near and far vision requirements
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written information
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse individuals
