About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform physical examinations and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Provide donor awareness regarding potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate illness and medication history to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as an Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Current CPR certification required
- Work is performed both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Position requires bending and twisting of neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement of both hands, with ability to make fast, simple movements of fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
- Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Occasionally walks, bends, and twists at waist
- Light lifting of 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- May reach below shoulder height
- Hearing acuity essential
- Color perception/discrimination; near and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and the other eye to 20/100
- Able to communicate and understand information presented through spoken words and sentences
- Works independently within oral or written instructions
- Performs a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
- Relates sensitive information to diverse groups
- Exposure to biological fluids and potential infectious organisms
- Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Exposure to extreme cold below 32°F in plasma freezers
- Personal protective equipment required, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear
