About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the East Coast Applied Process group in the Clayton, North Carolina capital projects engineering department
  • Strategically execute the design, procurement and implementation of process equipment supporting Clayton, Montreal and Los Angeles sites
  • Develop and execute purchasing/fabrication plans for process equipment and manufacturing areas or facilities in the United States and Canada
  • Manage user requirements, design, budget, procurement, construction, factory acceptance testing and commissioning plans
  • Lead projects through process validation and licensure
  • Prepare bid requests and evaluate proposals to select vendors and contractors
  • Oversee contractors during construction and installation
  • Manage the fabrication shop and resources of two skid designers and two welders
  • Fabricate custom process skids, including mechanical/electrical completion, FAT, TOPs and onsite commissioning
  • Ensure safety, OSHA, regulatory and environmental compliance
  • Use Jira and Microsoft Project to prepare schedules and communicate project progress weekly
  • Work effectively in interdepartmental and international teams
  • Recruit, train, evaluate and develop employees

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field of study required
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Professional registration and/or certifications, as appropriate
  • Minimum of 10 years of comprehensive engineering experience in a medium-sized organization
  • Biotech or Chemical industry experience preferred
  • 15+ years of engineering experience preferred, including demonstrated leadership experience in technical and/or people management roles
  • Expertise in planning, scheduling, organizing, performance management, financial management, administrative skills, QA, regulatory and validation
  • Experience with plasma or protein processing
  • Experience with hygienic welding of stainless steel
  • Experience in fabrication, mechanics or other hands-on technical experience
  • Experience using CAD software such as Solidworks, AutoCAD, REVIT, Navisworks or Plant 3D
  • Microsoft-based software including Word, Excel and Project
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction/commissioning environment in field and office
  • Ability to work with management, operations, contractors and vendors
  • Ability to communicate complex information and obtain consensus
  • Occasional travel within the United States
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Must meet applicable work authorization and legal requirements
