About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Calibrate various types of instrument standards and control elements, including electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, temperature, pressure, level, flow, weight and weighing systems, analytical devices, and NIST Standards.
  • Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance on instrument standards and control elements.
  • Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System to document work activity.
  • Provide detailed documentation of calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Issue and complete job hazard analyses and safe work permits, including hot work, excavating, confined space, and hazardous atmosphere permits.
  • Adhere to cGMP, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, job plans, and equipment manuals.
  • Maintain training curriculum requirements.
  • Complete required Instrumentation Qualifications.
  • Assist with modification, installation, and startup of new and existing instrument standards.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Trainee: High School Diploma or Equivalent plus 2 years of experience in maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical trades, or utility equipment operation; a technical Associate’s degree may replace the experience.
  • Tech 1: Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field and 2 years relevant experience.
  • Tech 2: Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field and 4 years relevant experience.
  • Tech 3: Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education, experience, and/or competencies may be considered in place of stated requirements.
  • Ability to calibrate and troubleshoot electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, temperature, pressure, level, flow, weight, analytical, and other instrument standards.
  • Ability to use a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Ability to follow cGMP, safety and environmental requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, job plans, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to complete required Instrumentation Qualifications.
  • Ability to work dayshift, 8-hour Monday–Friday schedule.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment involving chemicals, electrical equipment, machinery, biological fluids, noise, dust, gases, fumes, steam, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, heights, uneven ground, and vibration.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs. for 6–8 hours per day, with a maximum lift of 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, climb, crawl, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive hand and foot movements.
  • Hearing acuity, color perception/discrimination, depth perception, and specified correctable vision required.
  • Ability to communicate and understand information presented through spoken and written words.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and adhere to a work schedule meeting production standards.
