About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct pre-donation medical screening according to established guidelines
- Determine hematocrit and protein using finger-stick testing, a hematastat, and refractometer
- Assess donor suitability and perform setup, monitoring, and disconnect procedures for plasmapheresis machines and donors
- Provide feedback to ineligible donor candidates
- Ensure donor screening information is complete and accurate
- Maintain donor confidentiality and communicate donor medical information to Medical Staff
- Establish and maintain organized donor files and accurate records
- Promote customer satisfaction and build rapport with donors
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficiently supplied work area
- Dispose of contaminated disposable equipment
- Perform administrative duties, including greeting donors, answering phones, and assisting center management
- Cross-train and work in other areas to support efficient center operations
- Maintain sanitation and clean equipment and work areas between donors
- Learn and comply with applicable regulations, standards, and company procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED
- Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable
- Typically requires 2 years of related experience
- Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to listen to and understand spoken information
- Ability to perform complex tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potentially infectious organisms
- Ability to use personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
- Ability to sit or stand for the entire shift, bend, and twist the neck and waist
- Frequent hand, finger, wrist, and foot movements; ability to make precise coordinated movements
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum
- Hearing acuity, color perception/discrimination, and correctable near and far vision
- Compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures
