About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct pre-donation medical screening according to established guidelines
  • Determine hematocrit and protein via finger stick using a hematastat and refractometer
  • Promote customer satisfaction through appropriate interaction and responsiveness
  • Assess donor suitability and perform set-up, monitoring, and disconnect procedures for plasmapheresis machines and donors
  • Provide feedback to ineligible donor candidates
  • Ensure donor screening information is complete and accurate
  • Maintain donor confidentiality
  • Communicate donor medical information to Medical Staff
  • Establish and maintain organized donor files
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area and necessary supplies
  • Dispose of contaminated disposable equipment
  • Build rapport with donors to support long-term donation
  • Perform administrative duties including greeting donors, answering phones, and assisting center management
  • Maintain familiarity and compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures
  • Sanitize and clean equipment and work areas between donors
  • Cross-train and work in other areas to ensure efficient center operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable
  • Typically requires 2 years of related experience
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to listen to and understand spoken information
  • Ability to perform a wide range of complex tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
  • Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
  • Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potentially infectious organisms
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to perform sitting or standing for entire shift, bending, and twisting the neck and waist
  • Frequent hand, finger, wrist, and foot movement
  • Ability to make precise coordinated movements to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum
  • Essential hearing acuity
  • Color perception/discrimination and correctable near and far vision
  • Ability to work in extreme cold below 32 degrees F while working in the plasma freezer
