About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct pre-donation medical screening according to established guidelines
- Determine Hematocrit (HCT) and protein using finger sticks, a hematastat, and refractometer
- Promote customer satisfaction through appropriate interaction and responsiveness to donor needs
- Assess donor suitability and perform setup, monitoring, and disconnect procedures for plasmapheresis machines and donors
- Provide feedback to ineligible donor candidates
- Ensure donor screening information is complete and accurate before donation
- Maintain donor confidentiality
- Communicate donor medical information effectively to Medical Staff
- Establish and maintain organized donor files
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation and records
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area and necessary supplies
- Dispose of contaminated disposable equipment
- Build rapport with donors to support long-term donation and center satisfaction
- Perform administrative duties, including greeting donors, answering phones, and assisting center management
- Maintain familiarity and compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures
- Sanitize and clean equipment and work areas between donors
- Cross-train and work in other areas to ensure efficient center operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED
- Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable
- Typically requires 2 years of related experience
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to perform within the guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of complex tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32°F
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
- Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift, bend, twist, and perform frequent hand and foot movements
- Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum
- Essential hearing acuity and correctable near and far vision
- Color perception/discrimination and vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and the other eye to 20/100
