About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Inform donors about potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist with employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and precise coordinated finger, hand, and wrist movements
- Frequent foot movement; ability to squat, crouch, or sit on heels occasionally
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely, with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Essential hearing acuity
- Correctable near and far vision; specified color perception/discrimination requirements
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken information
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to work with potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms
- Ability to work with electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to work in extreme cold below 32 degrees F while performing functions in plasma freezers
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
