About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability.
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality.
- Raise donor awareness of potential hazards.
- Provide donor education regarding general health and counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results.
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events.
- Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability.
- Assist in employee training.
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each.
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day.
- Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
- Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects.
- Ability to squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels on rare occasion; occasionally walk, bend, and twist at the waist.
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum.
- Hearing acuity essential.
- Correctable color perception/discrimination, near vision, and far vision to 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye.
- Ability to communicate and listen to spoken information effectively.
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions.
- Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions.
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups.
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office/laboratory equipment, and temperatures below 32 degrees F.
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear.
