About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Explain potential hazards to donors
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate illness and medication histories to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as an EMT-Basic (EMTB), EMT-Advanced (EMTA), Paramedic, Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and precise coordinated finger, hand, and wrist movements
- Ability to squat, crouch, sit on heels, walk, bend, and twist at the waist
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum
- Hearing acuity essential
- Correctable color perception and near/far vision requirements
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
- Ability to communicate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and extreme cold
- Must use required personal protective equipment
