About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee day-to-day operational performance of the plasma collection center
  • Ensure donor safety, regulatory compliance, production goals, company standards, and SOP alignment
  • Assist with operational management and overall performance and profitability of the center
  • Act on behalf of the Center Manager when absent and manage the center independently for periods of time
  • Oversee all aspects of donor center operations when the Center Manager is not present
  • Collaborate with Training and Quality staff to meet training and quality goals
  • Coach and lead employees through Operations Supervisors
  • Monitor and evaluate operations and develop action plans to maximize center efficiency
  • Supervise implementation of operational improvements and modify action plans when needed
  • Manage hiring, work assignments, employee development and training, disciplinary actions, terminations, and personnel records
  • Partner with the Center Manager on budget preparation and facility oversight to achieve production and quality targets within the agreed cost structure
  • Delegate, monitor, and hold Operations Supervisors accountable for performance
  • Direct and supervise employees, including creating and managing work schedules
  • Maintain ability to perform all center tasks and fill production roles when needed
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and equipment condition
  • Manage freezers, plasma shipments, equipment failures, and freezer alarms
  • Develop and implement donor recruitment advertising campaigns
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and cGMP
  • Direct donor selection, plasma collection, and manufacturing records to maintain production standards
  • Build rapport with donors to support customer satisfaction and long-term donation
  • Control center donor funds and ensure accurate financial records
  • Report center irregularities to the Center Manager and develop corrective action plans
  • Minimize center liability through risk management, investigate unsafe situations and complaints, and implement corrective actions
  • Direct and monitor outside vendors
  • Review and monitor special projects for accuracy and timely completion
  • Work with the Center Manager to implement the donor center’s mission in the community

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Science, Business, Nursing, Finance, or related field
  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience in clinical or general business experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in a medical and/or cGMP regulated environment preferred
  • Experience with plasma or whole blood preferred
  • Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements
  • Developing command of leadership, organizational, customer service, interpersonal communication, and computer abilities
  • Ability to understand and assess FDA regulations
  • Ability to maintain adequate levels of plasma collection and adhere to quality standards
  • Ability to motivate staff to achieve established goals and standards
  • May be required to relocate
  • Ability to work in office and/or laboratory/manufacturing environments with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, extreme cold, chemicals, machinery, noise, and production equipment
  • Personal protective equipment required, including protective eyewear, garments, and gloves
  • Ability to sit frequently for 6–8 hours per day and perform repetitive hand movements
  • Ability to occasionally walk, bend, and twist neck
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs
  • Ability to frequently drive to site locations with occasional travel within the United States
  • Ability to communicate complex information and ideas and understand spoken information
  • Ability to work independently with little guidance and plan work schedules to meet goals
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups, handle sensitive information, and obtain consensus
  • Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues
