About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee day-to-day operational performance of the plasma collection center
  • Ensure donor safety, regulatory compliance, production goals, center performance, and profitability
  • Act on behalf of the Center Manager and manage the center independently when needed
  • Lead frontline donor floor operations and supervise employees through Operations Supervisors
  • Collaborate with Training and Quality staff to meet training and quality goals
  • Coach employees and provide effective feedback
  • Monitor and evaluate operations, develop action plans, and implement efficiency improvements
  • Manage personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, training, discipline, termination, and personnel records
  • Partner with the Center Manager on budget preparation and oversee facility performance against production and quality targets
  • Delegate, monitor, and hold Operations Supervisors accountable
  • Direct employees and create and manage work schedules
  • Maintain the ability to perform all center tasks and fill production roles when needed
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and equipment condition
  • Manage freezers, plasma shipments, equipment failures, and freezer alarms
  • Develop and implement donor recruitment advertising campaigns
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and cGMP
  • Direct donor selection, plasma collection, and manufacturing records to maintain production standards
  • Build donor rapport and support customer satisfaction and long-term donation
  • Control donor funds and maintain accurate financial records
  • Report center irregularities and implement corrective action plans
  • Minimize liability through risk management and investigate unsafe situations and complaints
  • Direct and monitor outside vendors
  • Review and monitor special projects
  • Work with the Center Manager to implement the donor center mission in the community

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Science, Business, Nursing, Finance, or related field
  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience in clinical or general business experience
  • Ability to understand and assess FDA regulations
  • Ability to maintain adequate levels of plasma collection and adhere to quality standards
  • Ability to motivate staff to achieve established goals and standards
  • Developing command of leadership, organizational, customer service, interpersonal communication, and computer abilities
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in a medical and/or cGMP regulated environment preferred
  • Experience with plasma or whole blood preferred
  • May be required to relocate
  • Ability to work in office and/or laboratory/manufacturing environments with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, extreme cold, chemicals, machinery, and high noise levels
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, and gloves
  • Ability to sit 6–8 hours per day and perform repetitive hand movements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to frequently drive to site locations with occasional travel within the United States
  • Ability to communicate complex information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to work independently, plan schedules, interact with diverse groups, and obtain consensus
  • Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues
