About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee day-to-day plasma donation center operations, donor safety, regulatory compliance, production goals, and profitability
- Act on behalf of the Center Manager and manage the center independently when the manager is absent
- Collaborate with Training and Quality staff to meet training and quality goals
- Coach, lead, delegate to, and monitor Operations Supervisors and frontline employees
- Monitor and evaluate operations, develop action plans, and implement efficiency improvements
- Manage personnel functions, including hiring, work assignment, development, training, discipline, termination, and personnel records
- Partner with the Center Manager on budget preparation and oversee facility performance against production and quality targets
- Direct and supervise employees, including creating and managing work schedules
- Perform production employee tasks when needed
- Maintain facility cleanliness and equipment condition
- Manage freezers, plasma shipments, equipment failures, and freezer alarms
- Develop and implement donor recruitment advertising campaigns
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and cGMP
- Direct donor selection, plasma collection, and manufacturing records to maintain production standards
- Build donor rapport and support customer satisfaction and long-term donation
- Control donor funds and maintain accurate financial records
- Report center irregularities and implement corrective actions
- Conduct risk management reviews and investigate unsafe situations and complaints
- Direct and monitor outside vendors
- Review special projects for accuracy and timely completion
- Help implement the donor center’s mission in the community
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Science, Business, Nursing, Finance, or related field
- Typically requires 3+ years of related experience in clinical or general business experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in a medical and/or cGMP regulated environment preferred
- Experience with plasma or whole blood preferred
- Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements
- Developing command of leadership, organizational, customer service, interpersonal communication, and computer abilities
- Ability to understand and assess FDA regulations
- Ability to maintain adequate levels of plasma collection and adhere to quality standards
- Ability to motivate staff to achieve established goals and standards
- May be required to relocate
- Ability to work in office and/or laboratory/manufacturing environments with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, extreme cold, chemicals, moving machinery, production equipment, and high noise levels
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, and gloves
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
- Ability to communicate complex information and understand spoken information
- Ability to work independently with little guidance and plan work schedules to meet goals
- Ability to interact with diverse groups and obtain consensus
- Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues
