About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform fundamental purification tasks within a GMP environment
  • Maintain general housekeeping and clean and sanitize production areas
  • Prepare cleaning and sanitization reagents
  • Assemble, disassemble, clean and sterilize production equipment
  • Operate centrifuges, ultrafiltration units, columns, autoclaves, pasteurizers and other production equipment
  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently
  • Perform bulk processing and filtration using parameters such as pH, weights and suspension
  • Perform real-time production documentation and maintain accurate records and logs
  • Prepare buffer solutions and properly store process intermediates
  • Assemble, disassemble and operate equipment such as spectrophotometers
  • Perform pH and buffer additions
  • Prepare samples and perform processing calculations
  • Weigh powders, chemicals and reagents and complete calculations, preparations and reagent additions
  • Perform routine bulk preparation operations
  • Perform pre- and post-filtration integrity tests
  • Recognize and report mechanical and safety hazards to appropriate individuals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a team environment and exercise good judgment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bioworks Certificate preferred
  • Level II typically requires a minimum of 12 months as a Technician in the respective department before consideration for advancement
  • Level II employees must receive at least a meets expectations overall rating on their most recent performance review
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to biological fluids, chemicals, electrical manufacturing equipment, hand tools, moving machinery, high noise levels and extreme cold below 32°F
  • Ability to perform standing and walking for 4–6 hours per day
  • Ability to bend and twist neck and waist for 4–6 hours per day
  • Frequent hand, finger, wrist and foot movements
  • Ability to make precise coordinated movements to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Frequent moderate lifting and carrying of 15–44 lbs
  • Frequent heavy lifting and carrying of 45 lbs, with a maximum lift of 50 lbs
  • Occasional reaching above and below shoulder height
  • Essential hearing acuity
  • Color perception/discrimination and depth perception
  • Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and the other eye to 20/100
  • Ability to communicate and understand information presented through spoken and written words and sentences
  • Ability to perform simple, routine tasks by following written or oral instructions/procedures
