About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Inform donors about potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health and counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate illness and medication histories to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist with employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse
- Current CPR certification required
- Work performed both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, simple movements of fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
- Ability to squat, crouch, or sit on heels on rare occasions
- Light lifting of 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Hearing acuity essential
- Correctable near and far vision and color perception/discrimination
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written information
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
- Personal protective equipment required, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
