About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional, cross-timezone team to improve the Grindr app
  • Work across multiple workstreams and use ambiguity for high-level thinking
  • Guide data-driven decisions on new technologies, architectures, and workflows
  • Elevate the team's technical proficiency and adoption of new tools and working methods
  • Use Swift, Xcode, RxSwift, Combine, Swift Concurrency, SwiftUI, Bitrise, Fastlane, and GitHub
  • Evolve and maintain software architecture for current and future needs
  • Develop innovative, consumer-facing mobile products supporting the product roadmap
  • Own important safety and security features
  • Support new feature development and help keep bad actors off the platform
  • Safeguard users' safety
  • Mentor team members and implement organizational change

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 6 years of experience building complex iOS applications
  • Strong technical experience supporting individual contributors' creativity and innovation
  • Experience with product leadership and technical decision-making
  • Ability to make sound product and code tradeoffs
  • Experience working with business stakeholders from the C-suite and VP level downward
  • Ability to work deeply in code and contribute to long-term initiatives through mentoring
  • Strong practical knowledge of software engineering best practices and design patterns, including MVVM, Coordinator, one-way data flow, modular architecture, performance optimization, and metrics
  • Experience with architecture at scale
  • Experience working with technology stacks outside of mobile
  • Professional experience with RxSwift or another functional reactive programming framework
  • Professional experience with Coordinators and/or RxFlow
  • Ability and willingness to work from the Chicago office Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
