About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work with providers, counselors, and support staff to facilitate rapid-access intakes and enhanced medical support during members’ early treatment
- Use telemedicine extensively to overcome barriers and keep members safe and engaged in treatment
- Provide longitudinal maintenance care to a panel of members
- Provide coverage for provider colleagues when medical questions or needs arise
- Support launches into new markets and geographies using knowledge of the Groups Recovery System and culture
- Partner with medical leadership to develop and deploy new medical service lines
- Determine medical necessity and treatment appropriateness
- Prescribe buprenorphine/naloxone and other approved withdrawal medications when appropriate
- Maintain intake shifts and provide rapid-access telemedicine intakes across multiple geographies
- Complete intake documentation accurately and efficiently
- Support successful initiation of medication-assisted treatment during weeks 1–4
- Coordinate with community providers and transition new members into regular maintenance groups
- Maintain a panel of maintenance members and serve as dedicated provider at monthly provider groups
- Meet patients receiving buprenorphine at least every 30 days
- Discuss patient medical issues between visits by phone and email
- Conduct medically necessary individual sessions
- Maintain confidential, timely, and compliant medical records
- Provide makeup group and 1:1 session coverage
- Participate in rotating on-call urgent prescription coverage
- Facilitate access to the state prescription drug monitoring database
- Complete encounter documentation and sign prescriptions on the same business day
- Manage group and individual sessions and maintain an effective clinical schedule
- Follow up on interprofessional communication
- Assist with onboarding, training, and supporting new providers
- Pilot initiatives to improve early-treatment outcomes
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required
- Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant with active state license in good standing
- Willing and able to become licensed in multiple other states where Groups operates or will operate soon
- Willingness and ability to become credentialed with all government and private health plans with whom Groups Recover Together is in network
- Ability to see members in-person at several state locations
- At least 1 year of experience managing OUD with buprenorphine
- At least 1 year of experience working in a team-based-care setting with behavioral health providers
- At least 2 years of experience working with a similar member population
- Adequate internet connectivity to support telemedicine when working from home
- Internet package of at least 10M download and 5M upload, with a strong WiFi signal
- Ability to demonstrate recovery-sensitive behaviors
- Ability to maintain courteous and professional communications with staff and members
- Illinois employees who physically enter an office, provide member-facing in-person treatment, or represent Groups in the community/payors must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination unless reasonably accommodated
