About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own data domains end to end—from source ingestion through the layer the business uses every day to make decisions about purchasing, pricing, inventory, and assortment.
  • Build and evolve end-to-end ELT/ETL ingestion and transformation pipelines, in batch and near real time, using data from SAP, Oracle, PostgreSQL, APIs, and files.
  • Orchestrate workloads in Cloud Composer (Airflow), ensuring SLAs, idempotency, reprocessing, and monitoring.
  • Model the data warehouse in BigQuery using a Medallion architecture—bronze / silver / gold—with Dataform, delivering reliable, high-performance models for consumption in Power BI.
  • Implement and operate CDC replication for transactional databases (Datastream and similar tools).
  • Process large volumes with PySpark (Dataproc) and Apache Beam (Dataflow) when required by the use case.
  • Optimize BigQuery performance and costs through partitioning, clustering, query rewriting, and data FinOps.
  • Define technical standards, review code, and serve as a technical reference for the data team.
  • Translate business needs from Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, and Marketing into data solutions.

  • Experience with Python applied to data engineering required, including modular, tested, and version-controlled code;
  • Experience building end-to-end ELT/ETL pipelines, including failure handling, reprocessing, and idempotency;
  • Experience with Airflow (or Cloud Composer) in a production environment;
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms in a production data environment;
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses—preferably BigQuery; experience with Snowflake, Redshift, or Synapse is also considered;
  • Experience with data modeling and layered architectures (Medallion / dimensional);
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases: PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL;
  • Experience working with file formats (Parquet, CSV, JSON, Avro) and consuming REST APIs;
