About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Learn the full process of administering, testing, and reporting on 401(k) plans through accelerated learning, training, and practical experience
- Review client-submitted documents for completeness and accuracy
- Work with clients to obtain information needed for annual reporting
- Proactively keep clients updated on reporting progress
- Reconcile plans with only rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software
- Use administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting
- Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails during the plan-year reporting process
- Prepare required 401(k) government filings, including IRS Form 5500, using filing software
- Educate clients about 401(k) plan administration and plan documents
- Share knowledge and explain complex topics simply
- Receive training on concepts for a Retirement Plan Administrator I
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with document review and transaction processing as daily job responsibilities
- 1 to 5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax prep processing, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance or quality-control support
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Direct retirement-plan operations experience, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 or year-end reporting, is preferred
- Experience with reconciliation as a daily job responsibility is preferred
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience, is preferred
- Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred
- A designated workspace where you can concentrate and be productive is preferred
- Reliable high-speed internet is preferred
