About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in Florida Blue's remote IT Summer Internship program
- Work on real projects involving business processes and technology systems
- Receive on-the-job training and partner with a mentor from the track-specific team
- Meet leaders from all domains within the Technology organization
- Engage with Executive Tech Leadership
- Present to Florida Blue's CIO and Tech Vice Presidents at the program's conclusion
- Generative AI: design, build, and deploy enterprise AI solutions; develop prompt engineering, agentic workflows, tool integrations, and responsible AI practices
- Infrastructure: develop and implement policies and procedures safeguarding company data, databases, and information systems; monitor and maintain complex systems
- Cloud Engineering: work with infrastructure as code, networking, automation, data storage, and security using AWS and Azure
- Cybersecurity: collaborate with red-team and blue-team members; address security challenges; explore security frameworks and information security solutions
- Data Analytics: analyze business problems and public datasets; perform data wrangling, model development, visualization, business intelligence, and data quality assessment
- Data Science: design, develop, and deploy analytics models and algorithms; analyze large datasets for trends, patterns, and insights
- Application Development: develop applications, explore technologies, gather requirements, and design business solutions
- Business Analyst: define and document business requirements; collaborate with developers, product owners, and testers; guide projects from concept through production; troubleshoot and resolve application defects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently enrolled in a computer science, information technology, mathematics, psychology, or related Master degree program at an accredited college/university
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
- Must be able to commit to working at least 30 hours a week
- Basic PC skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Basic programming knowledge, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, or other object-oriented programming experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team- and collaboration-oriented
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and adapt to a dynamic, changing environment
- Creative and innovative thinker
- College junior, senior, or graduate student
- Generative AI track: foundation in large language models, prompting, RAG, agentic/tool-use patterns, LLM APIs, application frameworks, Python, data manipulation, and statistical analysis
- Infrastructure track: technology design, implementation and troubleshooting; complex systems monitoring and maintenance; Linux commands; OpenShift and Kubernetes
- Cloud Engineering track: experience with AWS or Azure preferred
- Cybersecurity track: information security principles and practices; Security+, Network+, A+, and/or Linux+ certifications preferred
- Data Analytics track: basic skills in SQL, R, and/or Python
- Data Science track: currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a specified quantitative/technical field; Python, R, or SQL; large-dataset analysis; high-level computer science and mathematics coursework
- Application Development track: programming in Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, or Swift; MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL; Git; React or Angular; Node.js
- Business Analyst track: business operations and processes; business analysis tools such as use cases, user stories, and process mapping; Agile and Waterfall methodologies; SQL databases preferred
