About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in Florida Blue's remote IT Summer Internship program
  • Work on real projects involving the business processes and technology systems that power Florida Blue and GuideWell
  • Receive on-the-job training and partner with a mentor from a track-specific team
  • Meet with leaders from all domains within the Technology organization
  • Engage with Executive Tech Leadership throughout the program
  • Present to Florida Blue's CIO and Tech Vice Presidents at the program's conclusion
  • Generative AI: design, build, and deploy enterprise AI solutions; work with prompt engineering, agentic workflows, tool integrations, and responsible AI practices
  • Infrastructure: develop and implement policies and procedures to safeguard company data, databases, and information systems; monitor and maintain complex systems
  • Cloud Engineering: work with infrastructure as code, networking, automation, data storage, and security using AWS and Azure
  • Cybersecurity: collaborate with red-team and blue-team members, work with security frameworks, and address information security challenges
  • Data Analytics: analyze business problems and public datasets using data wrangling, model development, visualization, business intelligence, and data quality assessment
  • Data Science: develop and deploy data analytics models and algorithms; analyze large datasets for trends, patterns, and insights
  • Application Development: develop applications, explore technologies, gather requirements, and design business solutions
  • Business Analyst: define and document business requirements, collaborate with developers, product owners, and testers, guide projects through production deployment, and resolve application defects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior student in computer science, information technology, mathematics, psychology, or a related degree program at an accredited college/university
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Must be able to commit to working at least 30 hours a week
  • Basic PC skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Basic programming knowledge, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, or other object-oriented programming experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team- and collaboration-oriented
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and adapt to a dynamic, changing environment
  • Creative and innovative thinker
  • Track-specific qualifications, including Python, SQL, R, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Git, AWS, Azure, Linux, Kubernetes, OpenShift, cybersecurity principles, machine learning, data visualization, databases, and business analysis methodologies, as applicable
  • Data Science track: currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a specified quantitative or technical field
  • Completed or in-progress Security+, Network+, A+, and/or Linux+ certifications preferred for Cybersecurity
  • Experience with AWS or Azure preferred for Cloud Engineering
  • Experience with SQL databases preferred for Business Analyst
