About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide virtual professional nursing care for patients in an acute care environment using telecommunication technology
  • Provide virtual support to bedside nurses at Guthrie Hospital inpatient acute care units
  • Collaborate with bedside nurses to deliver coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based care
  • Utilize clinical assessment skills, EPIC, and Sickbay or designated software to monitor patients
  • Assess patients and preemptively address signs and symptoms of clinical deterioration or status changes
  • Develop, update, and coordinate patient care plans
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition
  • Advocate for ethical and holistic care and support patient autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs
  • Inform, coach, and support onsite nurses and clinicians
  • Serve as a clinical resource and coach and mentor clinical nurses
  • Manage complex patient assignments and unit demands
  • Respond to routine, urgent, and emergent patient situations through videoconferencing, surveillance, chart review, and clinical alarms
  • Provide follow-up to ensure problem resolution
  • Engage in professional development and promote evidence-based practice
  • Provide leadership and contribute knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology, hemodynamics, bedside technology, and nursing care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse licensed in both the States of New York and Pennsylvania
  • Current BLS / ACLS required within 6 months
  • Proficient with Windows-based computer skills and operation
  • Proficient with EPIC documentation
  • 5 years of experience in acute care bedside nursing
  • Specialty Certification required within 1 year
  • The Registered Nurse must meet the individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment
  • Ability to work with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to use independent, critical judgment in patient care delivery
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
  • Hearing / Visual requirement
