About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide virtual professional nursing care for patients in acute care environments using telecommunication technology
- Provide virtual support to bedside nurses at Guthrie Hospital inpatient acute care units
- Collaborate with bedside nurses to deliver coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based care
- Use clinical assessment skills, EPIC, Sickbay, or designated software to monitor patients
- Assess subtle signs and symptoms of clinical deterioration or status changes and address them proactively
- Develop, update, and coordinate patient care plans
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions
- Advocate for ethical, holistic care and patient autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs
- Inform, coach, and support onsite nurses and clinicians
- Facilitate learning for patients, families, nurses, healthcare team members, and students
- Serve as a clinical resource and coach and mentor clinical nurses
- Manage complex patient assignments and unit demands
- Respond to routine, urgent, and emergent situations through videoconferencing, surveillance, chart review, and clinical alarms
- Provide follow-up to ensure problem resolution
- Engage in professional development and evidence-based practice
- Demonstrate leadership as a change agent through advocacy, influence, and innovation
- Contribute expertise in pathophysiology, pharmacology, hemodynamics, bedside technology, and nursing care
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
- BSN in Nursing preferred
- Registered Nurse licensed in both the States of New York and Pennsylvania
- Specialty Certification preferred
- Current BLS / ACLS required within 6 months
- Proficient with Windows-based computer skills and operation
- Proficient with EPIC documentation
- 5 years of experience in acute care bedside nursing
- Specialty Certification required within 1 year
- Must maintain BLS / ACLS required within 6 months
- Must meet individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment
- Proficiency in information technology, electronic health records, communication systems, computers, and necessary equipment
- Ability to work with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to use independent, critical judgment in patient care delivery
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Hearing / visual capability
