About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the site's QHSE strategy and drive a proactive safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with GXO standards and UK legislation
  • Manage QHSE management systems, audits, inspections and governance processes
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses
  • Implement corrective actions and identify opportunities to reduce risk
  • Analyse and present QHSE performance data, trends and metrics
  • Build relationships with customers, contractors, regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders
  • Coach, train and influence managers and colleagues to improve QHSE awareness, accountability and performance
  • Support GXO's digital transformation journey
  • Report to the Regional General Manager and lead the site's QHSE agenda

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience in a senior QHSE leadership role, ideally within logistics, transport, warehousing or a similar operational environment
  • Minimum of five years' QHSE experience
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and QHSE management systems
  • NEBOSH qualification
  • NVQ Level 5 or equivalent
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation effectively
  • Experience leading internal and external audits, driving compliance and delivering successful improvement plans
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Proactive, digitally minded and solutions-focused approach
  • Passion for developing people and creating a strong safety culture
  • Flexibility to travel to other sites
