About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead workforce planning and labor optimization strategies across GXO’s logistics operations supporting a key customer
  • Develop and maintain labor forecasts based on client demand/projections, volume trends, seasonal trends, and historical data
  • Create daily, weekly, and monthly labor schedules to optimize workforce utilization
  • Monitor productivity metrics including units per hour, cost per unit, and overtime usage, and recommend improvements
  • Partner with warehouse supervisors and HR to ensure staffing levels meet operational requirements
  • Coordinate with staffing agencies to secure temporary labor during peak periods
  • Implement and maintain labor management systems and workforce planning tools
  • Provide regular reporting on labor performance, costs, and utilization
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce labor costs and improve efficiency
  • Lead and mentor labor planners and coordinators as volume grows
  • Partner with site leadership, HR, and finance to align labor plans with business objectives
  • Monitor labor utilization and adjust plans for real-time operational changes
  • Ensure adherence to GXO and customer compliance standards, safety protocols, and labor regulations
  • Provide workforce analytics and performance insights
  • Deliver reports to senior leadership and the customer on labor efficiency and cost performance
  • Identify and implement process improvements and support automation and advanced workforce planning technology initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in labor planning, workforce management, or operations within logistics or distribution
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, LMS and workforce planning systems (e.g., Kronos, Blue Yonder)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of labor laws, compliance, and workforce management best practices
  • Experience supporting high-tech or e-commerce customers (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies (preferred)
  • May be required to pass a pre-employment drug test after receiving a conditional offer
  • Compliance with GXO policies, CDC, OSHA, and state and local requirements regarding COVID safety
