About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Set up and operate packaging machines, including the Bagger, Scale, Case Erector and Cartoner, according to established procedures
Operate the Production Management System with lead times of 5–12 people
Supply the scale with intermediate components and bagging materials to keep the machine running
Operate the bagging machine while minimizing waste in finished products and packaging materials
Perform quality assurance checks for packaging defects, material defects and overall quality
Troubleshoot machinery breakdowns, clear machine jams and align rolls of bagging materials
Assist mechanics with complex machinery breakdowns and repairs
Make periodic adjustments to the bagging machine and scale for peak performance
Document inventory numbers and product weights, organize packages, and provide hourly production and downtime reports
Perform housekeeping duties around the machine and clean machine parts and work areas
Fill, secure and label containers according to company or customer specifications
Adjust machine settings and make minor repairs to packaging equipment
Oversee Bagger line performance and provide direction and support to packaging-line team members

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience measuring for proper alignment requirements using a ruler
Ability to speak, read (fine print) and write in English
Ability to follow verbal and written directions
Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate with others
Successfully meet all background check requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Machine operator experience (preferred)
Knowledge of and experience operating a bagging machine and producing a quality product in a team-based environment (preferred)
Willingness to cross-train to operate different styles of bagging machines (preferred)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to work in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled
Ability to safely walk, reach above the head, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
