About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage, plan and implement regional environmental, health and safety programs and systems across multiple locations
- Develop and oversee EHS programs, KPI monitoring, reporting, audits and inspections
- Embed best-in-class EHS practices and support ESG reporting and emissions reduction initiatives
- Lead, coach and develop Site and Zone EHS professionals
- Ensure processes, documentation and training for dangerous goods handling, storage and transportation are accurate and current
- Implement sustainability strategies and monitor and report site sustainability performance
- Communicate with and build consensus among site-level senior leadership
- Conduct EHS evaluations, assess risks and improve controls, processes, training, visual tools and equipment
- Review, analyze, develop and communicate occupational health and safety programs and solutions
- Generate reports and analyze injury trends to identify PPE modifications
- Oversee PPE purchases and approve safety statements of work, work instructions and forms
- Conduct comprehensive safety audits at designated at-risk sites
- Provide onsite and remote safety training for leadership and site management
- Train site management teams on the Intelex Risk Management system
- Support new site start-ups with required safety training curricula
- Support environmental performance and reporting for air, waste and water permitting compliance
- Develop EHS professionals as domain experts and leaders
- Use expertise, data and reporting to solve problems, validate compliance and implement sustainable improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5–7 years of environmental, health and safety experience
- At least 3 years in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of the supply chain and logistics industry
- Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for hazardous and universal waste, stormwater, permitting and compliance assurance
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing basics
- Experience working with regulatory partners
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related field (preferred)
- Knowledge of EHS in a warehousing/distribution environment (preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Solid leadership and customer service skills
- Ability to comply with GXO policies and applicable CDC, OSHA, state and local COVID safety requirements
- Conditional offer recipients may be required to pass a pre-employment drug test
