About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee and facilitate high-quality U.S. tax preparation, planning, and audit representation services for U.S. expatriate clients through a virtual platform
- Manage a book of business for U.S. expatriate clients in designated countries, including delinquent filers, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals
- Conduct new client interviews and analyze international tax issues to prepare complete and accurate U.S. tax returns
- Follow internal guidelines for tax return review and referral
- Seek new clients through referrals and execute client acquisition plans
- Participate in hiring decisions for non-signing tax preparers
- Manage the team toward quarterly productivity and efficiency targets
- Review team work and conduct meaningful performance evaluations
- Manage tax preparation workflows to meet timelines and provide excellent customer service
- Research and analyze tax positions relevant to designated countries with regional leadership
- Prepare tax returns for new clients and clients with complex tax issues when necessary
- Provide tax research support on complex issues encountered by the team
- Develop knowledge of foreign tax and financial systems in designated countries
- Assist with transitioning acquired clients to the H&R Block Expat Tax Services brand
- Build rapport with clients using global experience, education, or insights
- Handle IRS audit engagements for clients in the designated region
- Attend paid initial training and ongoing continuing education
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
- Ability to communicate tax and financial advice clearly and effectively with the public in a variety of situations, including public speaking engagements
- Ability to manage work and lead people remotely using virtual business and collaboration tools
- Circular 230 credentials (Enrolled Agent, CPA, or Attorney) or willingness to obtain within one year of employment
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills with a sincere desire to help others achieve success
- Effective time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills through remote service offerings
- Proficiency in reviewing data-related reports and driving informed actions with the team
- 5 years of experience in tax preparation and/or tax research
- Prior experience in client service or customer relationship management preferred
- Prior experience preparing taxes for U.S. expatriates preferred
