About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build trusted relationships with U.S. expatriate clients through knowledgeable, responsive, and personalized service
- Conduct comprehensive tax interviews and identify relevant U.S. and international tax considerations
- Communicate tax information, filing requirements, next steps, and recommendations
- Address client questions and concerns and escalate complex or unresolved matters
- Analyze client information and international tax matters to prepare accurate U.S. federal and state income tax returns
- Apply quality standards and internal guidelines for tax return preparation, review, escalation, and referral
- Research unfamiliar or complex tax questions using internal resources and technical guidance
- Collaborate with Client Relationship Professionals, Tax Managers, and Expat team members throughout the tax preparation and filing process
- Guide clients through electronic filing or other submission of required tax returns and documents
- Complete paid training and participate in continuing education
- Build and maintain knowledge of U.S. expatriate taxation and relevant foreign tax and financial systems
- Stay informed about tax developments, technical guidance, and professional resources
- Support client retention, referrals, acquisition initiatives, and expansion of the Expat client base
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in a related field or equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
- 1 year minimum related work experience
- Circular 230 credentials (Enrolled Agent, CPA, or Attorney) or willingness to obtain within one year of employment
- Previous customer service experience
- Ability to communicate tax and financial advice clearly and effectively with the public, including in public speaking engagements
- Ability to learn quickly and ask questions
- Effective time management skills, including handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and managing time in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Suite applications, which may include virtual tools
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages (preferred)
- Prior experience preparing taxes for U.S. expatriates (preferred)
