About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Research, gather, and organize data for special projects or reports
- Work with QA, User Experience, and other teams to align on requirements and approach
- Write, test, debug, and maintain code supporting real products and customer experiences
- Investigate technical problems and collaborate on solutions
- Participate in Agile activities, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and other ceremonies
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback
- Learn existing applications, systems, architecture, and development practices while contributing to an established codebase
- Design, develop, and maintain software components and products supporting H&R Block business applications
- Use tools, languages, coding standards, and best practices to develop product features and maintain functionality and enhancements
- Work alongside experienced engineers with guidance and mentoring while developing independence
- Participate in Embark workshops and events covering professional development, giveback, networking, and connected culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Seeking to obtain a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, or a similar discipline
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team and independently
- Highly motivated, organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Quick learner and willingness to work with new computer-based programs and databases
- Ability to be effective and contribute in a fast-paced corporate environment
- No previous work experience necessary
