About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports
- Prepare corporate entity, partnership, personal, and business income tax returns
- Prepare statements for audits
- Prepare, submit, and manage tax statements and returns for businesses and clients
- Provide advice on financial and tax matters
- Mentor and guide peers through knowledge transfer and skill development
- Foster and enhance continuous improvement initiatives
- Process financial information and materials in compliance with reporting requirements
- Prepare tax statements, financial statements, and BAS statements at required intervals
- Create and return statements and documents to clients by set deadlines
- Manage tax administration responsibilities, including tax code research, tax return preparation, and tax planning
- Identify opportunities to minimize tax liability through deductions and credits
- Engage regularly with clients and maintain strong relationships
- Stay current with federal and state tax laws, regulatory and compliance requirements, and tax planning techniques
- Research the financial landscape and market trends
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end account analysis
- Validate subsystem and interfaced data accuracy and completeness
- Process subsystem or subsidiary interfaces and resolve identified issues
- Provide guidance and assistance to Associate Tax Strategists
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience
- Minimum of 1 year business tax/entity returns experience
- Experience with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Mid-level knowledge of integrated online accounting applications
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Familiarity with bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and database management
- Ability to adapt to new tools and automation
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment, Income Tax Course or Equivalent and Tax Accountant Assessment
- Good verbal and written skills
- Client Services experience
- Ability to complete assigned projects on time with minimal supervision
- Ability to correctly interpret and apply complex instructions, policies and regulations
- Experience with PeopleSoft general ledger and query preferred
- Knowledge of tax law and statutory regulations preferred
