About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build EASE, a simulation and data-driven training platform for military, intelligence, law enforcement, and emergency response organizations
Lead architectural design and implementation of EASE features
Develop full-stack functionality including APIs, UX, automated tests, and deployment
Gather stakeholder feedback and define customer-focused features
Write proposals, conduct code experiments, and build prototypes
Deploy and maintain the product in AWS and on-premises customer data centers
Identify and drive technical and process improvements
Improve CI/CD and simplify deployment and administration
Diagnose and maintain production software in AWS and customer data centers
Drive performance and scalability improvements
Teach advanced coding practices and architectural patterns
Mentor junior developers and foster best practices
Review and approve code contributions for quality, security, and compliance

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 6 years of experience building complex web applications and backend services as a full-stack engineer
Minimum of 2 years at the senior level
Strong architecture and design skills
Full-stack development expertise with TypeScript and JavaScript
Advanced knowledge of reactive UI frameworks such as React or Vue
Advanced database experience with SQL/NoSQL, particularly MongoDB, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and geospatial data
Experience developing REST APIs
Deep experience with Linux and Docker containers
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Able to obtain Secret security clearance in Canada
Core meetings oriented on Eastern time zone
Nice-to-have: generative AI and LLM experience, modelling and simulation or operations research, Python or R, AWS/Terraform/DevOps, microservices and distributed systems, senior-level interviewing, software security, defence research/simulation/military background
