About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create new artwork and complete sets in Hadley Designs' established style across product lines.
  • Draw original characters, motifs, patterns, and scenes in a cute, kid-friendly aesthetic.
  • Turn the CCO's concepts and creative direction into finished, production-ready product designs.
  • Carry designs from initial handoff through final build-out independently.
  • Execute variations, build out full design sets, and prepare files.
  • Prepare print and production files to specification.
  • Build mockups and product previews for listings.
  • Maintain on-style, on-brand consistency across product sets.
  • Maintain the living style-reference as the catalog grows.
  • Provide occasional secondary ad-ops support and revisions on existing product lines.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Portfolio of original illustration work showing a cute, playful, kid-friendly or product-design sensibility.
  • Working proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for native illustration.
  • Ability to match and extend an existing art style and complete a cohesive set.
  • Strong ability to take written and verbal creative direction and turn it into finished work.
  • Reliability on deadlines while managing several pieces at once.
  • Experience preparing print / production files to spec (nice-to-have).
  • Familiarity with the children's, educational, or consumer-product space (nice-to-have).
  • Comfort with Notion, ClickUp, and file organization (nice-to-have).
  • Early-career/entry-level illustrator; not a senior art director or veteran illustrator.
